Made by Jeffa Gill since
1979, Durrus Farmhouse Cheese is recognised as one of the finest of the
modern Irish farmhouse cheeses made in the artisanal manner. Durrus Farmhouse Cheese has won medals and awards throughout the world, and is available wherever quality cheese is sold. This deep-flavoured, coral-coloured, semi-soft rind washed cheese is made from the milk of local West Cork herds. Read what the press has to say about our handmade produce.

Visitor Tasting Sessions Another New Year is upon us, and soon the evenings will grow longer. The first daffodils of the new season will be up shortly, and before we know it, Spring will be in full bloom around Durrus Cheese farmstead! So why not come and visit us, meet with Jeffa, and enjoy a taste of Durrus Farmhouse Cheese in the comfort of the farmstead kitchen - or on the garden deck if it is a pleasant day! Our farmstead is surrounded by the quiet Coomkeen Valley on the Sheeps Head Peninsula. The Coomkeen Valley is well worth a detour from the busier routes of the Sheeps Head peninsula. |

| Walking the Sheeps Head Way Our farmstead is on the route of the Sheeps Head Way Walk - which in early 2009 won a prestigious award naming it a European Destination of Excellence. We will show you the route across the hill to the Sheeps Head Way Walk if you can spare an hour or two for wonderful views of sea and hill and wide open countryside. If you call us in advance, we can arrange for a little wine and cheese to taste on your return. |
