Walk the Sheeps Head Way - Durrus Farmhouse Cheese

 

 

If you wish to walk the Sheeps Head Way, we will show you the route across our hill to the join Sheeps Head Way Walk. Durrus Farmhouse Cheese is situated close to the eastern end of the Sheeps Head Way, in the townland of Coomkeen.

If you wish to complete a shorter, loop walk, why not set out on the Durrus Cheese Loop, which brings you along quiet, country roads and part of the Sheep's Head Way.The Durrrus Cheese Loop takes about 2 hours, or more if you wish to stop to soak up the amazing views and quiet atmosphere along the route.

The walk affords spectacular views of Bantry Bay, the Beara Peninsula and Whiddy Island to the north - and the Coomkeen valley, Mount Gabriel and the Mizen to the south.

How to get to Durrus Cheese Farm:

  • Leaving Durrus Village, keep right of the Post Office and take the Ahakista Road for half a mile.
  • Turn right at St. James Church, follow straight through the crossroads, and continue on up the hill for two miles until you see our sign - Durrus Farmhouse Cheese.
  • Follow on, and you will meet another sign for our farm. Continue on for another short while and you are there.


Written directions are also available at the Post Office in Durrus village.
