The Cheese
Our milk comes fresh from the Friesian herds of two local farmers. The cows are grazed on coastal pastures for up to nine months of the year, and over-wintered in large, airy sheds. Our raw milk cheeses are made seasonally when the cows are out.
Durrus - the original 1979 recipe. A semi-soft cheese with a natural washed rind that develops slowly in our maturing rooms. Mild and creamy when young - stronger and fruitier when mature. Best enjoyed at 5-8 weeks old. Available in 1.3kg and 360g rounds.
Durrus Óg - the young Durrus made in 225g rounds, and aged for only 10 days in the dairy. Best enjoyed at 2-4 weeks old.
Dunmanus - our latest addition to the dairy. A semi-hard, raw milk cheese produced seasonally and aged for a minimum of 3 months. The flavours are nutty, fruity and complex. Enjoy up to 6 months old.
